Accounting Tax Manager

Employment Status: Regular, Full-Time, Exempt
Pay Scale: $55,000 – $85,000 per year
Required CPE: 30 Hours per Year

Summary:
As an Accounting Tax Manager with Ascension CPA, PLLC, you must have a complete knowledge of the firm’s philosophy. Accounting Tax Managers supervise accounting/tax engagements, perform high level accounting/tax functions, review work papers and financial statements, and communicate directly with the client. Accounting Tax Managers develop and train staff members, develop new business for the Firm, and comply with all regulatory groups.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages all phases of accounting, payroll, and compilation engagements.
  • Maintains contact with clients throughout the year and possesses a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of the client’s business.
  • Monitor client engagements for scope-creep and review engagements annually for fee adjustments.
  • Prepares basic to more complicated personal and corporate tax returns.
  • Prepares tax projections and meets with clients to discuss potential tax saving strategies.
  • Responds to federal and state notices received by clients to include file research and requesting and/or preparing appropriate responses.
  • Prepares and delivers tax plans.
  • Ensures that financial statements, notice responses, and client letters are prepared in accordance with professional and firm standards.
  • Maintains familiarity with qualifications of all Staff Members and assigns/monitors required CPE.
  • Works to develop responsible, trained staff members by assisting in the performance review process.
  • Prepares and delivers 5-6 lunch & learn training sessions per year for staff.
  • Meets with potential clients and prepares and delivers accounting/tax proposals.
  • Reviews existing client files for potential to increase service offerings.
  • Maintains familiarity with cash management and budgeting reports.
  • Other reports and projects as requested by the Managing Partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in accounting or other related program; and,
  • At least three to five years’ experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed; and, CPA Eligible; or, Professional Certification required (Enrolled Agent or Certified Public Accountant).
  • Ability to exercise judgment and work with confidential client matters and personnel matters.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.

Bookkeeper/Payroll Clerk

Employment Status: Regular, Full-Time, Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Pay Scale: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour
Required CPE: 15 Hours per Year

Summary:
As a Bookkeeper/Payroll Clerk with Ascension CPA, PLLC, you are a vital member of the team. You are responsible for maintaining client relations; as well as, developing relationships with the members of the firm. This position requires an individual with great communication, technology, and analytical skills. Important aspects of this are maintaining high standards of professional work and relationships with clients and staff.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain client files and ensure they are updated in a timely fashion.
  • Work with clients to collect information.
  • Review client files and ensure reporting is accurate and ready for the Staff Accountant’s review.
  • Provide bookkeeping and accounting services for low to mid-level clients.
  • Assist staff members with obtaining specific information needed from selected client files.
  • Prepare and process payroll.
  • Prepare, process, and file all monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll forms/reports.
  • Prepare annual franchise tax returns for businesses within your department.
  • Prepare annual property tax returns for businesses within your department.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • Enrolled in an accounting/finance/business degree program; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/business; or,
  • At least two years experience in bookkeeping, payroll and/or finance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, QuickBooks Online, and Adobe products.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple, concurrent deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented: ability to spot errors or inconsistencies.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
